A water molecule and its bond angleAn oxygen atom bonded to two hydrogen atoms in a bent shape, with an angle of about 104.5 degrees between the two bonds. Two lone pairs of electrons sit on top of the oxygen. The oxygen is labeled delta minus, slightly negative, and each hydrogen is labeled delta plus, slightly positive.OHH104.5°δ−δ+δ+
Water’s bent shape, about 104.5° between its two O–H bonds, leaves the oxygen side slightly negative (δ−) and the hydrogen side slightly positive (δ+). That polarity helps explain why water dissolves salt and why ice floats: one idea that connects chemistry, biology, and Earth science.

One Question, Three Subjects.

An original multiple-choice question with choices labeled W, X, Y, and Z, the way Science Bowl labels them.
Choose an answer, then reveal the reasoning.

Sample question: physics and astronomy

Sample Preview

A satellite moves in a circular orbit around a planet. If it is moved to a circular orbit with four times the radius, by what factor does its orbital period change?

  • W2
  • X4
  • Y8
  • Z16
Reveal the Reasoning

Kepler’s third law: for orbits around the same body, the square of the period is proportional to the cube of the radius, T2 ∝ r3.

Multiply the radius by 4 and r3 grows by 43 = 64, so T2 grows by 64 and the period grows by √64 = 8.

Y, 8. One trip around the larger orbit takes 8 times as long.

Each wrong choice matches a slip: W takes the square root of 4, X assumes the period grows like the radius, and Z squares it. The planned explanations are designed to name the slip, not just the answer.

Sample Preview: an original question written for this page. It doesn’t record answers or keep score, and it isn’t taken from any competition.

Plate 2: Two Orbits, to Scale
Two circular orbits around a planetA planet at the center with two circular orbits drawn to scale. The inner orbit has radius r. The outer orbit has radius 4r, four times larger. A satellite sits on each orbit.r4r
The question connects physics (gravity), astronomy (Kepler’s laws), and math (exponents), the kind of crossing science competitions reward.

Planned Coverage

The Sciences, and the Math That Ties Them Together.

Six planned areas of coverage for knowledge and reasoning.
Practice in each will follow what you’re ready to learn next.

Biology

Planned

Cells, genetics, physiology, ecology, and evolution, with the reasoning that connects structure to function.

Chemistry

Planned

Atomic structure, bonding, reactions, stoichiometry, and equilibrium, with the calculations worked out step by step.

Physics

Planned

Motion, forces, energy, waves, electricity, and magnetism, from the concepts to the equations.

Earth Science

Planned

Rocks and minerals, plate tectonics, weather and climate, and the oceans.

Astronomy

Planned

The solar system, stars, galaxies, and the physical laws that govern them, like the orbit question above.

Math for Science

Planned

Exponents, scientific notation, units, proportional reasoning, and the algebra that science questions lean on.

What It Will Cover

Knowledge and Reasoning First.

Here is what the planned product is for, and what it won’t pretend to do.

The initial emphasis

The concepts, calculations, and connections that National Science Bowl questions and Science Olympiad’s Core Knowledge events reward: knowing the science, and reasoning through a question you haven’t seen before.

What online practice can’t replace

Science Olympiad also has Build, Laboratory/Hands-On, and Hybrid events. Designing and testing a device, or working through a hands-on task at a tournament, takes real materials and practice that online study doesn’t replace. The planned product won’t cover every event, and it won’t stand in for that work.

How It Will Work

Practice That Follows What You Need Next.

The planned product is built on the AccelaStudy AI adaptive learning engine.
Here is what that is designed to mean on an ordinary practice day.

  1. Start Where You Are

A short mix of questions across the sciences shows which topics are solid and which need work.

  2. Practice What’s Next

Sessions focus on the concepts and calculations you’re ready to learn, instead of the ones you’ve mastered.

  3. Learn From Every Miss

The explanation shows which step went wrong, like squaring a ratio that should have been raised to the 3/2 power.

  4. Connect, Then Review

Related ideas from other subjects come next, and what you’ve learned returns for review before it fades.

Who It’s For

For Competitors and the Adults Who Help Them.

Students

Build depth across the sciences on your own schedule, with practice aimed at what you need to learn next.

Coaches

Each student’s practice is designed to adapt on its own, so meeting time can go to labs, builds, and strategy. Team and classroom options have not been announced.

Parents and Guardians

A focused way for your student to keep building knowledge between meets, with explanations that teach the reasoning.

Teachers and Librarians

A resource for students who want to go further in science than the class schedule allows.

FAQ

Questions, Answered.

What Is AccelaStudy AI Science Competitions?
A planned adaptive preparation product for science competitors, covering biology, chemistry, physics, Earth science, astronomy, and the math behind them. It is coming soon and is not available yet.
Which Competitions Is It For?
Students preparing for the National Science Bowl and for Science Olympiad’s knowledge events, and anyone who wants a deeper grasp of school science.
Does It Cover Every Science Olympiad Event?
No. The initial emphasis is knowledge and reasoning. Build, Laboratory/Hands-On, and Hybrid events need hands-on work that online practice doesn’t replace, and not every event is covered.
Does It Use Real Competition Questions?
No. Questions are written for AccelaStudy AI. We don’t reproduce competition questions or rules manuals, and nothing here is presented as official study material.
Is This an Official Competition Product?
No. AccelaStudy AI Science Competitions is an independent product of Renkara Media Group, Inc. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, Science Olympiad, Inc., or any other competition organizer.
When Will It Be Available?
It’s coming soon. We haven’t announced a date. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you when it opens.
How Much Will It Cost?
At launch, $39 a year or $4.99 a month, per learner. An annual plan covers 12 months and is billed once. You’ll be able to choose Science Competitions on its own, or all four competition products in AccelaStudy AI All Competitions for $79 a year or $9.99 a month.
Is It Included in All Competitions?
Yes. AccelaStudy AI Science Competitions is planned to be included in AccelaStudy AI All Competitions, which gives one learner access to all four competition products: Spelling & Vocabulary, Academic Bowl, Science Competitions, and Competition Math.
Who Should Join the Waitlist?
Parents, guardians, teachers, coaches, and adult learners. We ask only for an adult’s email address and your consent to a launch email, and we don’t ask for any information about students.
